Practical and Easy Measurement
Oral Use
When measuring temperature orally, the digital thermometer is placed under the tongue with its probe. To ensure measurement accuracy, the mouth should remain closed for 5 minutes prior to taking the measurement. Using this method, the normal temperature range is considered to be 35.7–37.3°C (96.3–99.2°F).
Rectal Use
For easy and safe application, lightly lubricate the probe with petroleum jelly. Gently insert the probe into the patient’s rectum, about 1 centimeter (less than 1/2 inch). Then, hold the probe in place by pressing your arm firmly against the body for 1.5 minutes. Using this method, the normal temperature range is considered to be between 35.2–36.7°C (95.4–98.1°F).
Underarm Use
When measuring temperature under the arm, the area should be dry. Place the probe in the armpit and keep the arm pressed against the body for 1.5 minutes. Using this method, a normal temperature is considered to be 35.2°C (95.4°F).
Cleaning and Disinfection
Use a dry cloth to clean the thermometer, then sterilize the probe with ethyl alcohol. Since the thermometer is not fully waterproof, avoid getting the LCD screen wet; only the probe is water-resistant.
